OFF TO USA!
YAY.
went fishmarket with the 201 crew.
went to work.
had interview with uow.
got offer from macq-org.
stayed up until 3am packing.
leaving soon soon soon.

donna.
so this is yet another picture-less post, since my phone is refusing to co-operate :(
hopefully i can change that tomorrow.

anyway, so yesterday i had work.
and afterwards, i went to pick up anita for dinner
macquarie park is usually a <10min drive
it took me the better half of an hour to get to her because traffic was so awful
never picking her up again

we drove to belfield for italian
ordered lamb and pasta and stuffed ourselves
food was pretty alright, just really creamy and we were really stuffed
talked about life and travels and all that good stuff
stay safe my favourite cousin <3

then we went to her house to find her backpacker's backpack
and we couldn't find it
instead we spent a bit of time compiling her shopping list
see below:

sigh.
that woman.

that leads me to another woman.
to all the people in lab201 that think joyce is super super smart:

joyce. you are too cute.

also, cherry and janice both wrote me epic emails today
and i feel very fortunate :)

donna.
i feel like i should make a CRAS appointment for myself
too bad they're $75
having a bit of a ~future careers path dilemma

had an org psyc interview at unsw today that went pretty well
interviewer was super nice towards the end (basically, anyone that laughs at one of my lame jokes is super nice in my book)
fingers crossed that his "likely to make an offer/you will be an asset/i just got remarried in lasvegas" comes to fruition
i.e. everyone else that applies for org sucks (aside from jenny and huiyih, they can rock it, lol)

after 3.5 hour interview, met up with jenny and huiyih in lab201
bussed it to coogee and revisited good ol' coogee bite
portions were a bit smaller than i remember
we got the salmon eggs benedict, kenny's benny and scrambled eggs
still pretty good
also got a HAPPY frappe which was just a pineapple, strawberry and mango frappe but the name was cool
hehe

then we went to beach
and jenny and huiyih were super unimpressed with my ~waving
even though the waves were super pretty
those asians -.-

walked around before catching the bus back towards city
we walked a bit around pitt st mall...for no reason apparently since we didn't buy anything
saw some cool random useless things in typo and the store next door though
then supervisor gave me a call and gave me anxiety about phD/possible scholarship
fjdasklfjsal;fas
what to do?

we also had meetfresh again
portions keep getting smaller and smaller but still fresh.
noice.

donna.
had work on tuesday
bad idea to spend the day moving about 50 8kg boxes
got home and was in ultimate forearm pain

thankfully, after sleep it was alright

today, i had my first real interview experience at macquarie uni
so nerve-wracking, but thankfully, had lovely huiyih accompany me
as far as interviews go, i guess it was relatively fun
lol

got email from UOW for clinical
emailed them to say i couldn't make it :P
let's see if they give me a phone interview
also got email from supervisor
and now i have to wait for his call -.- NOT COOL.

unsw org psyc interview tomorrow
yay for 3 hour interviews

donna.
me and cherry have been so busy this year
i had to book this day a month in advance, with the original plan to repaint my bedroom but that fell through
best fall-through ever. :D

got to bondi half an hour late to meet cherry but right on time to get a boost juice before watching harry potter and the deathly hallows
i keep laughing that my extreme lateness this year is to get back at her being late the past 10 xDDD
anyway, we watched the movie and it was awesome (see previous post)
left the theatre in tears but cherry was all "i'm pro and i don't need tissues". whatever.

then we went to borders to get our $20 vouchers, but they're going to take a day to activate so i couldn't buy my missing harry potter books yet :(
then we spent like $50 at JBHiFi on CDs (see below), before going to bondi beach at my insistence
long story short, i've been wanting to go beach for ages and i was craving fish'n'chips so...yeah
we got some good old fish'n'chips and calamari'n'chips from fish house, bondi
the fish hit the spot real good, but the calamari was a bit tough and chewy

then we went to the beach to melstyle
laid there for a couple of hours just eating movenpick ice cream (espresso and hazelnut flavours were okay; a bit too rich and creamy after awhile); ~waving and talking about life. mostly about the bible and my utter lack of a love life. but other things as well.
the sun was out but not strong. there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
there was a slight breeze.
and the sweet sound of waves crashing softly against the shore.
in short, it was an amazing day :)

got sia's colour the small one, john mayer's continuum and sara barielle's kaleidescope heart
like them all already :P

donna.
spoiler movie review post
harry potter & the deathly hallows: part 1
...
ohmygosh.
first, let me preface this with a warning. i love harry potter.
i'm not like a hardcore hardcore fan, but harry potter is totally a part of my childhood and i really enjoy both the books and movies although they're both flawed in their own way.

with that said, the movies have always been enjoyable but never quite...good.
the first few were good fun but not fantastic, the last few were pretty but badly acted and cut out/changed too much; leaving me ranting
this one is awesome.

i'm not really sure if it'll be as good for other people as it was for me, since i do lean more towards the fan side of the spectrum; but allow me to spaz...

basically, i had heard that this movie was going to cause a few tears, so i was prepared with tissues and stuff. little did i know, i would start tearing within the first minute. it was worse than up
that scene was just so well edited. and the score by alexander desplat was UNF.
i basically teared up throughout the entire movie, and it was pretty much raining on my face in the end. such a loser, but i was in good company (looks at cherry)

when i first heard that the book was going to be split into two films, i automatically thought it was for financial gain. while this may still hold true, at no point in the movie did i feel that it was unnecessarily drawn out. loved the pacing and darkness in this one. so glad they were allowed to make it darker <3
it was so pretty. cinemagraphically, the last film was already quite impressive but this one is even more beautiful. and the effects are...wow. i mean, dobby...GOSH.

and i have no idea what happened between this movie and the last, but this one was so much better acted. i think that's one of the main reasons why i kept tearing.
emma watson, GOOD ON YOU!
the torture scene had me by my heart strings.
and basically any time friendships were tested or shone through, i was like awwwwwwww~
hilarious when i was sniffling, and then cherry was sniffling, and then the person next to cherry was sniffling and then the woman next to me started sniffling. apparently, cherry's neighbour stole her tissue. xD

amongst the tears, there were some great comedic moments as well.
which is great, because otherwise, i would have been completely traumatised.
also, some great horror-film-esque moments. it was hilarious when me and cherry both knew something was coming but they still managed to get us to jump out of our seats.
and creepy things were so creepy. gosh, that woman. *shudders*
they had one animation scene that they used to tell a back story and it was soooooooooo ridiculously well done. it was like something out of pixar. i was just so impressed.
spazzes: fdjaslkfjsl;afsajfsa

can't really think of anything else at the moment
but i loved it.
also, if you were at bondi cinemas today and you heard someone scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO when the movie ended...
that wasn't me.
it wasn't.

ETA: there were three old people who got polyjuiced and they were A PLUS!
also, random kissing was random and awkward dancing was awkward

donna.
reverting back to my old way of writing because apparently it reads easier.
:D (gives self an excuse)

since janice has basically broadcasted to the world already
here's the conversation i had with my littlebro when i got home from work today

donna: hey isaac
littlebro: *listens to his headphones* wazzup?
donna: i got first class honours :D
isaac: :D what does that mean?
donna: it means i'm really smart
isaac: :D:D:D congrats *hugs around waist*

and just like when i got my fulls, my little heart burst into small bubbles of happiness because my littlebro is still cute <3

now, to get nervous about interviews... -.-

the sunset today <3

donna.
cherry has a sister. she is cool. cherry's sister has a husband and he is even cooler. long story short, he's a manager that fires people and rides a scooter/motorbike to work. cool, yes? and look at me already getting off-track! anyway~, i hadn't seen the wange couple since...Chinese new year, which is a complete monstrosity so when the opportunity presented itself for me to go and visit their new house, i couldn't resist (despite the fact i had work the following day).

it was like an extended family reunion <3. i was supposed to pick up twin after work, but he ran late and i ended up picking him up at a miscellaneous station and guesstimating the route to wange's place. we got there a bit after cherry and johnson, but wange weren't home yet so we decided to go to IKEA. took instax photos and bumped into a workmate, who kept accusing me of trying to run away from him but that was so not true! him and his girlfriend are so super cute fdjaklflkas. ANYWAY~

it was so cute seeing wayne being super excited to show off his new house :D. and then lol, i made a sarcastic comment about how neat they were (which they weren't since all their stuff was scattered all over the floor) and cherry thought i was being serious and argued that it was because they don't have that much stuff. lies!

we drove to concord for Japanese food, and basically all died of starvation waiting for it to arrive. had a fun time talking and laughing about...i can't remember. probably about wayne's manager-ness and cherry's work interview and twin being high on life (read: wine). OH! and then i was nice to cherry because she's been stressed lately, and then she kept looking at me suspiciously. then finally, she couldn't take it anymore and asked me what i was doing! i was both offended and lolling internally. that got everyone's attention and then they started asking me if i was terminally ill O_O. then coincidentally my contacts were making my eyes tear, so twin was like ARE YOU CRYING?!?! loooooooooooooooooooool. but seriously, am i that mean to cherry all the time that i can't be nice when everyone else is being mean? T.T

the food took so long that i think we took almost 2 hours to eat, which is ridiculous for japanese food. my tempura bento box was pretty good though. then afterwards we went back to wange's to play saboteur which is the most epic card game ever. SO MANY LOLS. highlights would have to include: donna being evil 80% of the time, wayne thinking he was the only saboteur when donna trying to confuse the good people, donna putting the card sideways about 3 times, cherry's temper tantrum when she threw down the wrong card while talking to her mum,  twin constantly accusing wange of being an evil duo when he's the evil one, johnson being a really confident and good teacher, donna getting one nugget while wayne ha like...18.

got home at midnight. didn't get to sleep until 1am.
but it was so completely worth it.

today, i have just been a complete bundle of nerves.
this is hilarious because this time tomorrow, no matter what, i will be completely chill.

donna.

sidenote: Joyce, you made me use spellcheck now. and also, i don't know if you saw my comment but i actually changed prague to praque.  :P

Here we go, come with me
There's a world out there that we should see
Take my hand, close your eyes
With you right here, I'm a rocketeer

Let's fly
Up, up here we go
Up, up here we go
Let's fly
Up, up here we go, go
Where we stop nobody knows, knows

Where we go we don't need roads, roads
Where we stop nobody knows, knows
To the stars if you really want it
Got, got a jetpack with your name on it
Above the clouds in the atmosphere, phere
Just say the words and we outta here, outta here
Hold my hand if you feeling scared, scared
We flying up, up outta here

Here we go, come with me
There's a world out there that we should see
Take my hand, close your eyes
With you right here, I'm a rocketeer,

Let's fly
Up, up here we go, go
Let's fly
Up, up here we go, go, here we go
Where we stop nobody knows, knows

Girl you always on my mind, got my head up in the sky
And I'm never looking down feeling priceless, yeah
Where we at, only few have known
Go on the next level, Super Mario
I hope this works out, Cardio
Til' then let's fly, Geronimo

Here we go, come with me
There's a world out there that we should see
Take my hand, close your eyes
With you right here, I'm a rocketeer

Nah, I never been in space before
But I never seen a face like yours
You make me feel like I could touch the planets
You want the moon, girl watch me grab it
See I never seen the stars this close
You got me stuck off the way you glow
I'm like, oh, oh, oh, oh
I'm like, oh, oh, oh, oh

Here we go, come with me
There's a world out there that we should see
Take my hand, close your eyes
With you right here, I'm a rocketeer

Let's fly
Up, up here we go, go
Let's fly

my little bro recced me this song two days ago
and it's been in my head ever since <3
donna.
as the weekend draws to a close, i am feeling much more refreshed. i can now assure everyone that i am actually still quite alive, contrary to what i was thinking in my last blog entry. so yay.

began the weekend in one of the most awesome ways possible: g-videoing, skyping and finally, tiny-chatting with one miss valerie rose hoi ting suen. the conversation originally began with just me and valerie (and briefly, my mum) and then cherry came on so we attempted skype. and failed. so i suggested tinychat and it took us about 15 minutes to figure out how everything worked. lol. but all the trouble was so worthwhile to see valerie's sweet smile :D.

feel free to read the conversation for some lols

+some love, cherry being weird, valerie poking out our eyes (because she's nice)

saturday
originally a planned cherry day that later turned into a girl's night out, which then turned into a girl's day out. i was meant to meet cherry and her two church friends for coffee school. missed my bus by sleeping in, so i decided to drive after my parents suggested it. ended up 20 minutes late anyway, and had such anxiety going up the ramps at the cinema carparks. thankfully, i made it through.

the coffee course was run by the coffee gang, which actually consisted of one instructor named tony: he was funny, charismatic and completely enamoured by coffee. began at 10am and finished around 1. started off with a bit of interesting theory before learning about coffee shots, frothing milk and finally the different coffees. for most of the time, tony supervised us and gave us a hand until the last 20 minutes when we were just thrown into the deep end. got to choose about 3 coffees we wanted to make without supervision.

it was fun, and quite alright for $60. tony was a great instructor, lots of practical advice and laughs.

highlight of the course was probably playing roschart with everyone's coffee art. i saw a rat, a baby in a blanket, a sea shell and an ass (that was cherry's). hilarity! by the end of the course, we were all shaking from having consumed too much coffee and practically all rolled down the stairs.

and then because the two sisters, bonnie and cindy were so comfortable to be around we ended up all going to paddington together. we caught the 380 down oxford street and ate lunch at a small cafe right next to the paddington markets. had a lemon tea and steak sandwich. so good. then we strolled around paddington markets and some of the shops along paddington. i bought a few basic singlets and tops from dotti and a lovely pocket watch from a stalling in paddington hall. it was a super nice day to be out for a stroll. one of those spring days you think about when you think about why you like spring. :)

we continued along oxford street and somehow ended up all the way back near the cbd, our little feet killing us. we sat and chatted for a while, on some steps, before an alcoholic dude just kind of laid down at our feet. we all looked at each other and did absolutely nothing. we watched other people walk by, doing absolutely nothing. he got up after a little while and then we left. one of those small moments that make you feel uncomfortable about society and our psychology.

around 5pm we went our separate ways and me and cherry just went to hyde park to lay in the grass and take pictures. so nice and tranquil.

karen met up with us at 5:40pm and we made our way to kings cross. at this point, me and cherry weren't feeling our legs anymore from all the walking we had done prior. got to the praque restaurant with 10 minutes to spare before everyone arrived at different times. thumbs up to janice and cherry for choosing the place. the food was pretty good and not too pricey - i think i liked the schnitzel, the soggy bread and the mash the most. it was also great to catch up with the crew because there's such a familiarity there, and i don't have to pretend i'm some mature, polite adult :x. great to see so much laughter over nothing (lol).

i think we must have left around 10:30. cherry, karen, janice and i walked back towards the city. another nice breezy stroll with some lols. got home at like 12 after dropping janice and karen off. had an awesome sleep.

sunday
got woken up to do chores before going over to towers for thai and max brenner with mum and her friend. walked around and did a bit of grocery shopping before coming home and processing photos.

and that's basically all i did that today.
high-five!

my new pretty pocket watch by kaboodle designs

donna.
it's my fourth day returning to full time work hours and it appears that they are taking their toll already. i'm tired. but i sleep early. and because i sleep early, i'm on a different schedule to everyone else. so then it's like i've died again. kind of enjoying the solitude, but at the same time, it feels like i'm drifting aimlessly in a big, big ocean. it's a nice, relaxing feeling until you realise it's a big, big ocean and you're all alone in it. hopefully, once my body syncs back to working mode, i'll be able to live a little bit outside of work. tonight i ate dinner in my kitchen, even though i was eating by myself, because i needed time away from my computer. i kind of feel like driving far far away and sitting on a deserted beach, just watching the sunset. it makes me wonder how far i can go before i run out of petrol...

donna.
don't know what randomly set me off but i'mma try go on a health kick
i'm pretty sure it's partly (mostly) for vain reasons
been feeling like a huge potato lately, with like heaps of spots on my face
(or am i remembering a gaussian-blurred version of my previous face?)
and my dough-y face is more dough-y than usual
and instead of two rolls there are three
etc
etc
etc

not sure what this is going to entail
but hopefully, there will be a bit of money saved, i.e. by eating homemade sandwiches and salad
instead of buying lunch all the time
so it's another two pebbles killing one bird thing
score!

also, need to reduce computer time
another one of my post-thesis resolutions that i've just completely failed at -.-
maybe i need to purchase a lonely planet book and write the tourbook by hand

now that i think about it, i really suck
i shall write a list of resolutions and nag myself...
yes.

donna.
since i had a boring day
well it wasn't that boring for me
but it's boring to read
basically i hada really big breakfast at work (aka french toast with grilled banana, bacon, egg and maple syrup)
a breakfast so big i didn't eat lunch
and yeah, that was basically the most exciting thing about my day

but anyway, moving on
i'm kind of reluctant to fangirl on this blog since more people seem to know about it
(i don't know why that is)
filming started today and i can't not fangirl over these pictures so...
TOO BAD MATURE DONNA. YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~ why so cute? *jumps up and down*

donna.
lies.
more like, "let's proportionately increase the amount of food you consume as the days between thesis deadline and the present increase"

anyway, just as a quick recap:
friday began with a visit to the dentist and a large dent in my bank account.
apparently, i still have a baby tooth that hasn't come out yet
joy, when it falls out and no tooth is there to replace it
it certainly helps that it's in such a prominent position as well -.-
then it was off to towers for isaac's checkup and grocery shopping before returning home to bake
jesslau, jenny and HY arrived at castle hill around dinnertime
so after quickly showing off my splattered room, we ate tacos
messiest funnest food.
then it was asian karaoke time and jenny couldn't get over the karaoke machine. (hilarity!)

jess bought a whole storeful of cakes and jenny got my delices from lindt because she loves me very much <3

before we knew it, janice and anita had arrived
then it was karaoke until like...1am (mum joined us for awhile and it was LOOOOOOOOOL)
then it was UOW application time before pictionary
so many classic moments: jess's prawn cracker, left hand drawn hockey stick, jenny and HY's attempt at drawing "ugly", me and jess drawing different items, and many more
we slept around 3am -.-

the next day was 201 yum cha reunion at zilver

left for city around 11am and arrived at yum cha basically on time
anoushka, tab and janice went to zumbo's and brought back A LOT of macarons
i think we must have spent like...2-3 hours and $240 yumcha-ing
was pretty intense but great time chatting to the crew

then it was off to ~dessert at herbal jelly place
we got takeout since most of the people were full
we walked over in the rain and it was really cute watching everyone share umbrellas :P
then we invaded sussex centre's food court and all sat down and chatted about really random stuff
janice got a stupid idea to get people to sit down with people they didn't usually sit down with a chat
it didn't really take
except me and janice and jenny did pretty well, i think? hahahhaha

after we said our goodbyes, me and janice met up with vicki and jesslee at sushi tei for dinner
i ordered an unrolled sushi for dinner and it was so-so
not really enough sauce and the slices of sushi weren't really that good relatively to the normal cubed sashimi in sashimi don but still okay

then i don't know what was wrong with me that day but then we went to max brenner to chat
and i ordered a dark chocolate with crunchy waffle balls
and event after that i still finished the drink and could sitll eat -.-
sigh. diet time.
it was great catching up with jess and vicki (kind of spontaneously) and we talked about all random stuff like the us, and high school and it was lol-sy

dropped janice off home, and when i got home i found two dogs talking to mocha
when they saw me they super dodgedly tried to walk off while giving me death glares -.-
but later on, after i put food out for moc-dog, moc-dog full ignored me, i.e. literally "dogged" me
so i'm guessing the two dogs came back to discuss something important
i'm thinking politics or global warming but who knows?

today i ate like....the equilvalent of 4 macarons
and i had epic mpain on the way home from yumcha with mum and dad
they bicker so much but it's so cute fdakfj;sa
but anyway, epic mpain was so epic i basically died and puked again
sigh, let's hope the plane ride back from the US isn't that bad -.-
