friday was...no idea

saturday went into uni..at like 3 lol
and then found cherry and jocheung at kinokuniya
before dinner in martin place for twin's birthday

sunday was mum's birthday
epic big rain but cleared up before dinner
shouted hooker friend and daughter, elayne and son and mum and isaac dinner at blue fish on darling habour
got two seafood platters and that was just right for us
also had a ginger and lemongrass lemonade which was...not as awesome as it sounds
the seafood platter was really very good, very fresh and awesome for people who eat...seafood
elayne got us a taro cake

sidenote: so many people have been like ohmygosh you've lost so much weight that i'm starting to get self conscious. was i really that fat before? O_O

monday was CRAS
and lol loving it so much <3
nothing can beat the craziness that is the monday morning madness
having such a great time getting to know bel and joyce better (or in joyce's case...even better...more intimate relationships and all that...)
monday night was mum's second bday celebration - finally got to go to the star buffet after being gypped for cny
and yay! breakthrough with my half a plate of prawns. breaking down the allergies one half plate at a time!

and then today,
had training with WC and bleh.
got picked up in the city because i have awesome timing.
and all i did after i got home was watch new girl, gilmore girls, and lie on my bed.
most awesome thing was that isaac is starting to see the benefits of tertiary education so FTW!

so much excitement last week.

friday was mel's farewell, where we headed to the royal for lunch
admirable awkward levels seeing as brett was the only supervisor present
good moment was when janice pulled faces and me and dom had NO. idea what she was trying to say.
lunch was pretty cool, managed to keep the conversation following despite there being - dan, tony, dom, ann, janice, brett, mel, me, michelle and joe?
another good moment was bumping into my supervisor as we were walking back towards uni in a big group.

the rest of the afternoon was spent playing games, after adam joined us.
started off playing murder and lol at us choosing michelle and dan right off. HILARITY!
and it was even more hilarious when me and janice were celebrating with some major screams and jumps and then i look towards the door and i'm like hi brett and janice is all...lol you lie. but brett was actually standing there. good stuff!
and then the remainder of the arvo was spent playing good ol' sporcle.

so proud of myself because i worked (a little bit) on saturday before heading down to charity's place for an epic feast
gina, charity's 7 week old baby, was an absolute cutie. fdas;fjas;lkfas
i think we all caught a bit of baby fever.
it was so great catching up with the old workmates and their SOs - bob, vinnci, vrinda, anubhav, charity and daniel - and still have that same old dynamic we always had. lame jokes and cracks and all.
vrinda definitely brought the most blonde moments that night.
so weird that everyone was talking about marriage and babies and i'm still just...me.

then sunday was a bit of an anomaly.

i went out with a bunch of white people - bel, adam, rachel and meg. i was a token asian!

never thought i'd live to see the day.

we went to the harry potter exhibition and frolicked around the museum for a bit.

the exhibition was pretty cool, i wish they'd let us take pictures though. i think highlights was watching the real life version of hermione shoot her hand up for the sorting hat, pulling up mandrakes, deliberating over whether to push little kids out of the way to get to the qudditch, seeing the fake feast food.

was pleasantly surprised by the production value of the whole exhibit.

after that we strolled around the city, chatting and enjoying the sun. i think at one point, meg almost ate someone because she was so hungry.

ended up at grill'd and lindt for lunch and arvo tea.

had so much fun that my planned exit of 4pm was long gone by the time our day ended.

i think i got home around 9?

all in all, a great week.

talked to heaaaaaaps of people i don't usually talk to.

went out and had fun.

destressed a little from placement and phD.

now, just to keep it up!

Flew China Southern yesterday
It wasn't thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat bad.

Like, yeah it was a tight fit and Isaac's chair didn't go down...
But they had personal InFlightEntertainment (even though it was like 3 movies on loop)
And the food was pretty good. Had really good carrot cake at one point.

When we got to Guangzhou, our plane landed in the middle of nowhere and we had to shuttle it
So many lols when someone suddenly started talking to littlbro and it was because he had this huge fatass schoolies tattoo on his chest (like a sailor -.-)
And then it turned out that the westerner was going to Shandong to teach English straight out of high school. Wow.
Imagine leaving for this culturally, very different place, and having to be on your own. Major props.

Then we bussed it all the way into town with the help of kelvin wong, our ever dependent cousin/tour guide
Sneaked up to Level 6 and got Isaac to knock on the door while we all hid

Note at this stage that only cousin and aunt knew we were coming back to China.
So imagine grandma's absolute surprise and happiness when she opens the door to this kid who used to be her height and is now like...double her height.
Her reaction was so amazing. When we jumped out of our hiding spots, she was in tears of joy.

After we settled down, we walked the back streets to get to night yum cha and me and littlebro lamented over how dodge everyone was.
The food was really good. I've never seen Isaac eat so much in my life and that's saying something.

When we got home, me and mum slept on the sofa while Isaac slept on the stowaway bed.
In the middle of the night, we got woken up by a misplaced phone alarm and that was the same time we realised that mosquitos had bitten through me and littlebros faces.
Fully swollen eyes that can't be open right now.
Isaac's a little bit better off, he just has a swollen forehead.

Big sigh. I don't want to go out looking like this -.-

Feels like a sneaky thing.

Ever since my return from the land of the long white cloud I've been sooooooo terrible at keeping up my blog. *sad face

And now i'm already in China.

So many random things have happened since my last entry.

I bungy-jump from 134m platform
I drove another person's car over the roads with the highest crash rate in New Zealand
I made some pretty fugly pancakes on top an electric stove
So much more, but cbb to retype what
On our return...
I presented at my first external conference and it wasn't a complete disaster
After the conference met up with Twin, Jo and Cherry at the new Darling Quarter for $12 steak. It was like thawed meat. Then we desserted at the Asian dessert place near Takeru.
Then the next day, finally met up with Anita (after half a year of fail) and we had dinner at takeru (lol!) before eating dessert at Hard Rock Cafe - the apple cobbler was pretty amazing but the strawberry cheesecake was amazingly bad
My mind is blank on whether anything happened on Friday
Went out with mum on Saturday, we bussed it out to the city. Ate lunch with Elayne at the sushi train on top of market city before we walked over to The Star to try out Adrian Zumbo's Grandma Soup. Walked over to Pitt St Mall and checked out expensive luxury brands before settling down in the food court to eat the pastry. And it was good.
Sunday was Sangria (Saturday) and lol, some of the things org people get up to. SMH-ing. So many sexual tension lols with everybody. Awkward.
Monday was Forensic drinks with (surprise!) Forensics people. SMH SO HARD AT MY RED FACE. YOU SUCK RED FACE. YOU SUCK.
And then it was pack pack pack until 3am.

once warmer weather hits, i just get so obsessed with iced coffee.
it's a bit ridiculous.
the way the patterns swirl after i add milk to cold-brewed coffee?
ARGH! brings joy to my little heart.

i use about 8 tablespoons of ground coffee to two cups of cold water

leave that in the frenchpress overnight in the fridge

add ice and milk in the morning and i am ready to fly for the day~

apparently, it's been two weeks since my last proper entry. wow, have i been lazy with this blog or what?

on 2nd Nov, i had my not-last stats exam and it was so bad lol. added to the fact that i had the most epic dream of skydiving three times before discussing the benefits of berry mints with a work colleague. was completely tired out. then we went to the whitehouse for drinks to celebrate ~end-of-year and had great fun (if my memory serves me correctly).
on 4th Nov, my daily savings account reached an all-time low and i was so sad. keep questioning myself on whether this is spending time or saving time. early 20's is a weird time.

then spent the rest of my week doing my take-home exam, BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE ON THE 7TH. Got pranked so good, man. So good.
Found out on the 5th that they changed the date on my assignment sheet. Despite my gut feelings that something was wrong/thinking I had successfully mind-squiggled myself, I thought to myself, there's no way Hui would lie to me. And everyone else seemed to working on the take-home like it was due on the 7th. Little did I know, that the other side lived so differently...
So cute that Hui couldn't handle the guilt and pulled me to have dinner at her house. Still remember how good the food was...
Then, come the 8th, I went to sleep at 10am. Woke up at 9am. Submitted the take-home before lunch. IT WAS AMAZING. (and weird).

On the 9th, we went K for two hours and it wasn't enough at all.
also went sushi tei for joe's birthday dinner. me and jenny went scouraging around the city for apples pies prior and had pretty much given up on finding them when we finally came across them in the pitt st mall food court. and they were pretty good and came in a super cute box so i'll definitely be going back again.

On the 10th, went out with cherry ♥ for her ~birthday present. had dinner at minh thai in record time before mary poppins. i think the most apt description would be: disney on crack. it was AMAZING. the set production quality was mindblowing; the colours and the characters were just SO over-the-top sometimes that i thought i was on LSD at times. lol. Really would recommend it to everyone. was good, even from the dress circle.

On the 11th, I had my first meeting with my supervisor in ~ages. Finally submitted an abstract for the postgrad conference that going to be held at SydU at the end of the month. No idea what I'm doing with that. And then, randomly, when I got home that night. There was a HUGE spider waiting for me in my study. Had an hour-long battle with it cos it hid its corpse so well that I couldn't find it even after I got it to OD on bug spray.

since my last entry...

spring arrived

went to night noodle markets with wynnie and we left after a quick stroll around cos we're soft. i can't believe how many people line up for food they can get at existing restaurants. weird. we ended up at takeru, and it was the most random thing cos wyn had just called me to be like, what you doing? love spontaneous dinners.
received my credit card bills and cried. seriously need to cut down spending...next year xD
went to orto trading company and had an amazeballs dinner with my loves. too lazy to recount but the food was good. and then after that, we went to galaxy world and me and cherry owned ddr. by owned, i mean...didn't fail. after that, we went to azuma's for sugarhit and it was just okay...

the next night, we had dinner at takeru before sugarhit at glass brassiere. this one was GOOD.
started training for new zealand. get fit hey!
had an exam and finally had the epiphany that exams don't matter. for real, bro...
after the exam, me and jenny frolicked over to pitt st mall to get names on coke cans. i got lizhiheng lol. and then we walked all the way to the rocks for a super super early dinner at pancakes. (but not before we procured some macarons from la renaissence)

yesterday, we went to uni. and studied. before dinner at ayam goreng. we've been eating so much. ended up leaving at like...11:30pm? oh yeah, and we finally booked all NZ accommodation. never left travelling bookings until so late but living on the wild side this year~
today, i dated myself. went shopping and bought the striped top from espirit i've been lusting after. then went and got a creme brulee from gloria jeans (which is no eggin' $5.90 or something ridic). then froliced over to the cinemas to take advantage of my cinebuzz points and watched midnight in paris. and mygosh, have been fantasising about returning to paris ever since. i think it's the first time i've watched a movie that has made me smile without realising. what a weird but wonderful experience. such a pretty movie, and has now made me want to go read me some great gatsby and ernest hemingway. bookdepository, here i come!

finally, just dyed my hair. cut it earlier in the week. the below pictures are before the cut and dye...fingers crossed it'll all come out one shade, but you never know with hairstyling (home edition). will take pictures...sometime xD

before i go into the highlight of my day...

been super lazy with the blog lately since uni has been HECTIC!
feels super weird not have something due this week and it's kind of taking some getting used to but i'm definitely not going to take it for granted...

aside from assignments, i've been doing A LOT of eating out
so much so that i can't even keep track of where i've eaten since the last time i blogged
most recently, we went to hotel clarendon in surry hills for dinner (because the restaurant we wanted to go to had a 1 hour waiting period) but the food wasn't really anything too special (aside from the fact that chewing some of the meat made my jaw hurt)

i also feel like i'm built up my alcohol tolerance enough that i can now stop drinking so much
lol.

it was awesome getting to know a few more of the org classmates better though.

another random thing i did was watch 2012 again
i needed a dumb movie to watch while i made friendship bracelets and ohmygosh, i forgot how dumb that movie was
it was so fantasically dumb! and so fun to watch!

anyway, i'm going to try and update my blog a bit more now that i have a bit of a breather
hopefully with some sugar hit reviews soon!

problem was the mic wasn't working but we could hear dad saying, hello hello can you hear me hello hello i can hear you can you hear me hello how are you what's your name how you doing oh good~~ hello can you hear me, etc etc et
mum thought it was THE. MOST. HILARIOUS. THING. EVER.

BACKWARDS BLOGGING TAKES HOURS OUT OF MY LIFE

Anyway, this is a lazy entry about the past week

Monday: went out with Janice and Michelle after uni. Went to the japanese place next to Azumas on George St. Then we went to Azumas for dessert (chiffon cake and green tea latte) and stayed there until the doors closed like complete rebels.

Tuesday: I dressed like Janice Liew. Or so Twitter tells me.

Wednesday: Went to Little Snail in the morning and got drunk before teatime (will have separate entry later this week). Then went to uni to play Creationary before leaving at 6 to go to Mizuya with jin family and church people. Food was okay, but singing was not enough.

Thursday: MY LITTLE BRO GRADUATED AND THEN I DROVE HIM TO HIS FRIENDS HOUSE FOR PRE-FORMAL FUN AND I FELT LIKE AN AMERICAN MOM.

Awwwww... look at my little little bro tying a tie for that tall black kid

now consider how tall my brother is compared to the tall black kid (and all surrounding kids) and then compare how tall i am relative to my brother. and i was pretty much hanging around 17 year old giants for the better part of an hour.

it was fun.

Friday: Finished stats assignment early, at...4? That's half an hour early! Then we played Creationary with MT before Michelle, Janice and I went to Macchiato's for food and a girly chat. Went there for peking duck pizza WHICH WAS NOT THERE. Ended up with some weird seafood pizza that had a ton of rocket on it. Also had lamb pasta which was pretty good and the richest fondant on the face of the earth which was not what we ordered. Love hanging with those two, always.

Saturday: bum. bum. bummed (i.e. postponed brunch with anita) until 5 when i drove down to burwood to pick up twin. Then Cherry came and picked us up at burwood. We ended up late for Ang's surprise party at Churrascaria. Meaning, when we got there, there were 20 odd people we didn't know, sitting around Ang. So we walked past and were all "OH! DIDN'T EXPECT YOU HERE!" Lol EPIC!FAIL. Then events occurred that once again reinforced the fact that i will be 4EVAH ALONE. Thanks life~

Sunday: It rained. And then I went shopping with mum for hours and hours. And then I came home and jumped in puddles before i blogged for hours and hours.

look at me ticking things off my wardrobe essentials list! got this cropped navy boyfriend blazer from DOTTI. it cost me $40 but i knew if i didn't get it i'd cry in my sleep (no.)

despite upcoming stress, i feel very fortunate these last couple of days

hung out with my favourite jin people
had a picnic lunch at uni with miss jenny lam
met up with high school friends and ate heart-stopping cupcakes on the wharf
chatted until the last bus was about to leave with cherry and vivian
chatted and ate a lot with michelle and janice
witnessed hui's adorable fail-ness over and over
felt lots of love for my cute family <3

definitely looking forward to what this spring will bring :D :D :D

what was originally supposed to be our planned sports day,
turned into a stroll to glebe for dinner

we (me, hui, janice, jenny, jessica, joe and lol, i almost typed michelle but she wasn't there) ate at a random spanish restaurant and they had the most hilarious waiters
so many communication breakdowns
i can't remember everything we ordered but the seafood and chicken paella was pretty good, and the garlic potato and garlic mushroom was also pretty awesome.
the sangria was diluted, which made me ultra sad.

then afterwards we strolled to san churro for the typical tasting plates - tapas and fondue
and once again, too. much. chocolate.
there were bananas for the fondue though, and the strawberries were amazing so it was ultra happy :D

short updates are better than none at all, right?
i don't want to look back on these months and be like, what the hell did i do.

so yesterday, went shopping with mum.
got some wool, got a quilt set, got a new waste bin. YAY!

then drove down to hurstville for dinner at wynnie's
so nice to catch up with my fellow st. georgian's
meal was awesome - wynnie made us homemade pizza, rissoto croquette-ish things and this most chocolate-ly dessert ever. but that berries offset it in the most awesome way ever.

then afterwards, we played taboo.
me, cherry and joyce on one team. anna and wynnie on the other.
much as we tried to get on joyce's wavelength, her superiority was just too much and anna and wynnie completely owned us.

let us amalgamate all the exciting stuff that has happened since 5th June into this one entry
that is, this is going to be the laziest entry ever

on sunday: i gave moc-dog a shower (for the first time in months~) and he was super unimpressed.
on monday: i went and watched x-men: first class and fangirled over the mcbender bromance. movie was fun. people i watched it with were fun (twin, joecheung, cherryho+bf, ~derek). some pretty useless characters but that was made up for by the awesome ones (and it didn't hurt that i liked most of the cast). joecheung wouldn't let me drink chatime because its poisonous (irony) but he bought us icecream cones for the movie so it was okay. we ate korean afterwards.
on tuesday: i went to the belgian cafe with twin, joecheung, eric and cherryho. they all had mussells and i had a really good ribeye steak because i didn't want them to take me to the hospital. we drank beer. me and twin drank ~manly beer. the ~manly beer tasted better than the girly beer. i was red in the face. we are a lot. then we went to maxbrenner and drank hot chocolate. super. fat. when i got home, my mum made me go to sleep straightaway because apparently i was too drunk to shower. ew.
on wednesday: i had a 9am meeting with workcover people and it lasted until like...12pm? 2pm? then i had to get my hardcore study on for my friday exam. jenny brought us marshmallows. they were weird.
on thursday: i studied.
on friday: i had my psyc of org exam and it was fun. then at night, we randomly decided to go to the rocks. it took us an hour to get from uni to the rocks. lesson 1: don't drive to the rocks. we checked out vividsydney and the rocks night markets. we took forever to decide on a place to eat and ended up at pancakes on the rocks. we waited for half an hour, like tourists. then we talked. and talked. and talked. and then i looked at my watch and it was 12:30am. lol!!!!! michelle the savvyor (read: saviour) drove us to the city. and janice was so rebel she slept over at my place because her next train was in an hour. EPIC. we slept on the living room couches and concluded that they were super comfy.
on saturday: dropped janice off at home. we waited a whole 15 minutes for the egg to our epic lunch feast. so good. picked up missjennylam and spent day at uni kind of productively. ate dinner at some shang place. ordered too much. so fat. (again) then we went and had chatime.
on sunday: i slept at 3am. and woke up at 3pm. and didn't study. at. all.
on monday (public holiday): got picked up my janice promptly at 9am. drove to uni in the rain. for lunch, we made janice drive us down to maccas. me and jenny shared a beef mates meal because we're beef mates. and i was -.- when i realised i got a quarter pounder and not a double quarter pounder. hannah joined us for lunch. for dinner, jenny and janice were ultra awesome and went down to get chinese takeout <3 because i was epically studying. the congee was kind of salty and the fried rice was not salty enough and we had chatime.
on tuesday: i had my exam. it was SUPER not fun. like...to overcompensate the funness of the other one. eck. i don't even want to think about it. after the exam, we went to the whitehouse for drinks. somehow managed to drink from 12-3pm, skipping out on a seminar and a lab meeting. go me! had so. much. punch. the fries are so good there. {insert toilet story}. after that, i went back upstairs to reply emails and do work. everyone thought i was drunk, but i wasn't.
today: we ventured out of our comfort zone and went to the quad for lunch. janice also ran. we also went and had chatime.

so much detail has been lost but oh well, hopefully these sentences will trigger my memory when i read back over these blogs in 17 years time.
recount of the toilet story will come later - seeing as i already told it once today.

i realise it's been awhile since i've blogged.
no real reason why aside from the fact that i've been lazy and sleeping early and knitting instead of being on my computer.
(is that an improvement?)
