didn't end up getting the fabric, but came home with these boots :)
yay, for winter footwear~

donna.
everyone who knows me, knows i love my extended family
so yesterday and today were just completely awesome

last night, i left uni around 6:30pm and got pickle to drop me off at hyde park instead of central station
and then as i was feeling sorry for myself for having to spend friday night alone (since everyone was going to be out) i walked by mizuya and bumped into a familiar face. my cousin kenny! who i hadn't seen for almost a year!
so he pulled me in and i ended up having a pretty nice dinner with his new wife and friends.
then i bussed it home, and bumped into my littlebro at the busstop! serendipity levels at an all time high!

then this morning, i got woken up at a reasonably early hour and went yumcha with the extended family.
my cousins' little kids are so cute.
and then just bantering and laughing with the cousins that are the same generation as me - anita, jess, kenny - was so great. left me blissed out. hahahah.
oh! and the food was pretty good!
oh! and another random coincidence! bumped into amy and her new beau yum-chaing with her family at the table next to ours. loooooooooooooooooool.

anita just came back from europe. (so. damn. jealous. can. not. handle.)
and because she loves me so much...

story behind this is the first time i went to venice, i brought home some glass plates because they're just one of those things you buy as souvenirs
so i bought one for anita and one for myself. and carried them both around the world with me for a month.
when i got home, my parents were going through the stuff i bought and my dad just kind of roughly opened up my carefully packaged glass plate and dropped it on the floor (shattering it)
i ended up bawling for like 10 minutes.
so this is one reason why i love my cousin a lot, alot. because she got me this, without me asking her to <3 love you so much!

and then looooooool, anita doesn't know this, but i have actually been kind of eyeing the longchamp les pliages tote for a little while although i had like next to no intention of buying it.
just kind of eyeing it in a i-really-don't-mind-if-it-drops-in-my-lap way.
so i'm really fortunate that my cousin loves me and knows me enough to get me one. and get me one in navy which is the colour i would have bought myself.
so two for you anita! you win at life, and i suck because i need to up my gift game. <3
because you give me some of my most loved gifts (and memories)

yay, my ~comme des garcons wallet finally arrived!
if you remember, it was on my wardrobe wishlist from awhile back...
obviously it's not the plain red one i really wanted but since that one was limited edition and i couldn't find it anywhere, i ended up just purchasing this one
i'm a little sad because it's not the soft leather i thought it was going to be, but it's still pretty cute and hopefully it can last longer than my last one xD

also, i made cherry get me a bun.
it smells like a bun.

donna.
before i go into the highlight of my day...

been super lazy with the blog lately since uni has been HECTIC!
feels super weird not have something due this week and it's kind of taking some getting used to but i'm definitely not going to take it for granted...

aside from assignments, i've been doing A LOT of eating out
so much so that i can't even keep track of where i've eaten since the last time i blogged
most recently, we went to hotel clarendon in surry hills for dinner (because the restaurant we wanted to go to had a 1 hour waiting period) but the food wasn't really anything too special (aside from the fact that chewing some of the meat made my jaw hurt)

i also feel like i'm built up my alcohol tolerance enough that i can now stop drinking so much
lol.
enough!
it was awesome getting to know a few more of the org classmates better though.
love my cohort <3

another random thing i did was watch 2012 again
i needed a dumb movie to watch while i made friendship bracelets and ohmygosh, i forgot how dumb that movie was
it was so fantasically dumb! and so fun to watch!

anyway, i'm going to try and update my blog a bit more now that i have a bit of a breather
hopefully with some sugar hit reviews soon!
but here's some random photos for now...

my ecotools brush set arrived from eBay

my two pairs of jesus sandals, which i bought on sale from etsy, arrived from greece
i've been wearing them in and they're quite comfy

finally, highlight of my day...
dad's been getting on my case to install a webcam on the living room computer and i finally freed up some time to do it
so to test out the camera and the mic, we video gchated each other between the living room and the study
problem was the mic wasn't working but we could hear dad saying, hello hello can you hear me hello hello i can hear you can you hear me hello how are you what's your name how you doing oh good~~ hello can you hear me, etc etc et
mum thought it was THE. MOST. HILARIOUS. THING. EVER.

seriously...these two doofuses<3

dad thinking he's the poo.

went to the argyle for an ex-workmate's engagement party last night
(that place is SO. PRETTY.)
met up with little cousin beforehand for korean and we were both running late so i got to cafe cya before her and ordered. sat there by myself eating like i'd been stood up for a good 20 minutes xD
then we taxied it to the rocks because jess and her friend were wearing intense heels. hahahha

got to argyle and we were like where's the engagement party?
and then we looked on our right and there were all these asians and it was like, oh here it is!
started off pretty weird, maybe because i haven't been around...normal people for awhile
and i forget how nerdy/geeky i can be, so i had to spend a good hour or so assimilating back into normal life
the drinks were super pretty, kind of pricey ($18), and pretty sweet.
so so so awesome to catchup with the people from work <3 miss them so much.
went up to the second floor to cough-dance-cough a bit, went to a unisex bathroom...and couldn't figure out how to work the tap (it had a sensor in the ceiling -.-)
ended up being a pretty awesome night
i'd really like to go back there some day.

got offered a lift home, but then kina had to pick up her boyfriend from the cross and drop him off at liverpool so i didn't end up getting home until like..2am
it was the most hilarious thing cos he looks like a european model, talks like he's from bankstown and is a rta auditor
lovely memories of the four of us in kina's car, singing adele at 1:30am in the morning.

credits: argyle website

they gave out macaroons as favours (super cute)
got a new purse from portmans for nights out (because i have so many of those...lol)

finally made use of the oroton coin purse twin gave me
and yay! i finished my friendship bracelet

today we went to parklea markets, my mum and i
and we caught up with so many aunties who still work there
and there was so much talk about where everyone's children are these days, so many lawyers and accountants with their first investment properties, etc etc etc
and it made me so uncomfortable inside
because i don't want to buy a house right now, i don't want to be super rich, i don't want those things to be important
eck.
greed makes people so ugly.

donna.
isaac has been working really hard on his final project for woodtech
going into school even though he doesn't have class <3
this was taken on one of the mornings he caught a ride with me and mum

foodie pictures
first pic, mum made us sushi and i was going to take some to uni except i found out that dad ate it all in the morning -.-
second pic, the omurice i made isaac for dinner last night because he was hungry and requested tuna
always so happy when he eats the food i make with such enthusiasm <3

and also, look what arrived on our porch yesterday:
my $530USD coastal contacts order!
the box with everything in it (each of my orders keeps getting bigger and bigger i swear -.-)

got acuvue oasys for astigmatism because the daily ones were just too expensive (even if they are the most comfy thing i've ever worn)

RAYBAN SPLURGE! another two items off my wardrobe essentials list!

Rayban 5150 in black can always trust raybans to fit my face <3

Rayban 2132 in black, finally got a pair because my white CottonOn knock-offs are peeling

cannot wait until summer. :P

donna
My current wardrobe is filled with items that...
  1. No longer reflect my style
  2. Are cheap and falling apart
  3. I love but are too well-worn, i.e. threadbare
Every spring I do a massive wardrobe decluttering and there's always a red-white-blue bag full of clothes i end up passing off to charity.
And then of course, my mornings usually involve the ever-present dilemma of "oh my, what shall i wear today?" even though i have a huge wardrobe full of clothes. Most probably due to the reasons listed above.
In addition, although I've muchly (i know this isn't a word) improved over the past few years, there's still the occasional impulse buy in my wardrobe, that i've regretted (though this hasn't happened in over a year, due to my altered mindset in terms of my shopping habits)

As a result, i've been compiling a list of basics that I desire for my wardrobe and hopefully, this will guide this year's spring decluttering and shopping expeditions.

This post was inspired by DEAD FLEURETTE and THE FRESH EXCHANGE, and basically took forever to put together.

I have quite a few of these items, but unfortunately, some of them are lesser versions of what i'm after. for example, i've been on the hunt for the perfect breton top for over a year now, to no avail. So i guess i'll need to reconsider how much i'm willing to spend on the one i really want.
right now, i most desire a yellow cardigan.

i'm in no hurry to purchase the cropped trousers or khaki pants, reason being, i'm no where near finding a good fitting pair. i definitely want them somewhere down the line though.
this summer, i aim to acquire a pair of dark wash denim shorts and a pair of navy shorts.

i'm still recovering from the loss of my cotton on grey mini, and realise there's a large gaping hole for skirts in my wardrobe
i have like...two that i really wear
of this list, i really want to acquire the red high-waisted skirt and of course, a replacement for my cotton mini

long story short, i need some dresses
especially for lazy days, dress + cardi = leave the house

of all the categories, i'm most content with this one
all i'm really missing is a navy boyfriend blazer, which i'm quite confident i'll be able to acquire as long as i'm not too anal about the price point.
burberry trench coat, on the other hand, is a once-in-a-lifetime buy that i'll treat myself to when i finally enter the workforce (lol).

my black ballet flats from topshop suck. but at this stage i'm still unwilling to be more than $30 for a pair so that's definitely something i have to work through.
this summer, i will be getting sandal happy. strappy tan sandal happy.

well this is one category that's going to be getting a facelift soon.
recently convinced myself that spending the extra money will be worth it (*fingers crossed), so now i have a $500 glasses order on its way from the states. super excited for my rayban splurge to arrive in about a week's time.

i need a reason to purchase a leather zip wallet, particularly the comme des garcons one pictured above, that i've recently fallen in love with. red + leather = true love~
but at $200+, i need a REALLY good reason, especially considering i've only had my current one for half a year xD
i'm also pretty stoked that backbacks are coming back in, but i'm only going to get one if i come across the perfect one, otherwise i think the fad will fade too fast for me to bother
in addition, i only ever use one bag...so i guess, if i come across a nice feminine tote, i may just allow myself to get it. :)

all these images i got from polyvore and there are too many for me to link individually.
most of them are only guidelines, anyhow.

i actually already have a lot of this stuff, because i've been slowly changing my mindset over the past few years.
so i've become better at parting with money for quality investment items.
but man, a lot of these ~seemingly basic items are so expensive, i guess partly because i have very specific items in mind and also, chain stores don't carry them-slash-have cheap and tacky versions of the items i want.

i wonder how much of this list i'll be able to accomplish, come summer
wish me luck?

donna.
so what did i get up to today?

well, this morning i started writing in an actual journal again, because i realised it's been a long time since i felt safe writing down my ~deeper, more sinister thoughts on this blog.
i guess the increasing connectedness of the virtual world via gmail account, added to the fact that this blog is no longer read by like...two people, has made me to revert back to my old ways like a turtle

in addition, i find that i quite enjoy the pen & paper format, one, because i like my own handwriting (lol) and two, because it allows me to be as pretentious and vulnerable as i want.

i actually don't think it'll impact on this blog much, in fact, most of you probably won't even realise any changes at all since i'll still be posting detailed accounts of mundane events, random things that inspire me and lots & lots of photos.

case in point;
these were taken with nikon d60 (albus); 24mm manual prime lens (courtesy cherry's dad)

(sidenote: i can't seem to decide on a style of photography -.-
here i am experimenting with my colouring again...le sigh...when will i find my photographic soul?)

mocdog is seriously so broodingly handsome

taken from our backyard

taken from our frontyard, the warmer weather in the past few days have tricked the flowers into blooming early

new neighbours were moving in down the street, i mean, up the street

update on material goods
(ordered it along with cherry's birthday present)
and it is so, so beautiful.
granted, it's a bit big and i had to spend $1 at the key-cutting shop to punch two holes into the strap so that it doesn't hang below my butt, but...
i love leather so much, and this is good leather, and i love messenger bags/satchels so 1+1 = this is just pretty much perfect
it's also big enough to fit stumac, which my current faux-leather satchel can't do so...extra brownie points.

and, of course, BUG (still a temporary name until i think of something better).
hui suggested baby bug, but...i don't know...

and as per the post below, i finally got my diana mini film processed
~hallejuah!
consequently, feel like i've done a lot today when no, i really haven't xD
