went to the argyle for an ex-workmate's engagement party last night
(that place is SO. PRETTY.)
met up with little cousin beforehand for korean and we were both running late so i got to cafe cya before her and ordered. sat there by myself eating like i'd been stood up for a good 20 minutes xD
then we taxied it to the rocks because jess and her friend were wearing intense heels. hahahha

got to argyle and we were like where's the engagement party?
and then we looked on our right and there were all these asians and it was like, oh here it is!
started off pretty weird, maybe because i haven't been around...normal people for awhile
and i forget how nerdy/geeky i can be, so i had to spend a good hour or so assimilating back into normal life
the drinks were super pretty, kind of pricey ($18), and pretty sweet.
so so so awesome to catchup with the people from work <3 miss them so much.
went up to the second floor to cough-dance-cough a bit, went to a unisex bathroom...and couldn't figure out how to work the tap (it had a sensor in the ceiling -.-)
ended up being a pretty awesome night
i'd really like to go back there some day.

got offered a lift home, but then kina had to pick up her boyfriend from the cross and drop him off at liverpool so i didn't end up getting home until like..2am
it was the most hilarious thing cos he looks like a european model, talks like he's from bankstown and is a rta auditor
lovely memories of the four of us in kina's car, singing adele at 1:30am in the morning.

they gave out macaroons as favours (super cute)
got a new purse from portmans for nights out (because i have so many of those...lol)

finally made use of the oroton coin purse twin gave me
and yay! i finished my friendship bracelet

today we went to parklea markets, my mum and i
and we caught up with so many aunties who still work there
and there was so much talk about where everyone's children are these days, so many lawyers and accountants with their first investment properties, etc etc etc
and it made me so uncomfortable inside
because i don't want to buy a house right now, i don't want to be super rich, i don't want those things to be important
eck.
greed makes people so ugly.

donna.
yay a package arrived in the mail the other day
something i was quite excited about: the NARS illuminator in copacabana
it's supposed to be great as a highlight colour and all round dewy spring look (re: leighton meester), but we'll see how we go...
it retails for $58AUD at mecca but i got it for less than $30 from the UK (insert horhorhor)

something else i got quite excited about was the huge-ass volume 1 of the kikki k magazine
the images are fdasjf;ksja;lfja;
sigh~ i wish i could shoot like that :(
more practice!

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~
stupid stats assignment is stupid. you know what i found out! emily's year got an article given to them.
WTC?! Why the change?!
eck!

donna.
so unless you've been living under a rock, and thus, not privy to my continuous complaining about my proposal
you know i've been busy with my proposal (lol)
now that that's finally submitted (and hopefully accepted), i've got a little breathing space before the next deadline
had so much trouble going home today, realising i could actually have the weekend off!
my brain couldn't compute it, at all.
guess that's a pretty good indication i've finally stepped into my phD shoes, right?

anyway, changed the look of the blog the tiniest little bit, for no reason at all...
i just felt like it, i guess.

my relationship with albus has pretty much been put on the backburner for a while
so i'm hoping to take him out for a run tomorrow and get re-acquainted
haven't really taken any photos that i've been happy with for a little too long (sadface)
same with moc-dog, poor thing hasn't been washed since the ice age
i'm going to try my hardest to balance work/life during this time and hopefully, set myself up for when life gets hectic again.

starting now...sleeping early!

wish my luck :)

donna.
this poor neglected blog
can't wait until i hand in my proposal...eventually...

if only this actually worked...

YAY went to the sydney premiere for water for elephants yesterday
stalking status: FAIL

but as me and miss jenny lam have discussed
our mission was simply a comparative measure for next time
conclusion of our mission was to never pay to walk the red carpet and to just line up outside with all the other crazy fans if you want a glimpse of your ~favourite star
(lol)

anyway, did nothing at uni yesterday because it was friday/w4e day
around 4:30pm, everyone came up and ~surprised me with my present
some genius, i don't know who but i have an idea, decided to put a fake present and then get everyone to leave
NICE TRY!
hhahah but yes, so touched that so people came up to level 14 and gave me performance anxiety opening up my presents (many of which i truly do love so thank you <3)

<insert facebook pictures>

then it was off to mum's place to prepare for the premiere
feel like a ninja with my curling iron now xD

before:

after:

on the bus

waiting in line to get on the red carpet
red carpet experience was...not like i thought it would be
we were really kind of herded like cattle
made me think what it was like if you're like a b-lister...do you still get herded?

super grateful to miss jenny lam and janice for coming with me
otherwise i'd be super bored

lol this photo

and lol this photo also, because i have the same face -.-

being herded onto the red carpet
it was supposed to be the longest red carpet in australia
but truthfully the walk seemed really short
and it was kind of weird being on the other side of the barricaded screaming
(because i've been on the barracaded side...obviously)
lots of really well-dressed and made up people
made me slightly uncomfortable xD

hey! why is everyone pointing their cameras off to the right?

looks like it's someone important!

OH! THIS BACKSIDE LOOKS FAMILIAR!
OH WAIT!
IT'S ROBERT PATTINSON!
looooooooool
i actually was lucky enough to see his face, and he is soooo pretty and he seems sooooo nice <3
but yeah, total photo fail.
the security guards were full pushing us along, except for one who smiled at me (probably cos i looked like a little girl next to everyone else)
should've totally used my dimples to ask for a photo :(

oh hey! reese witherspoon's backside!
(compare their entourages xD but i guess the chances of rob being are attacked ARE much higher)

sometime before entering the theatre, i had a chance to cross the road and double back down the red carpet
but i didn't take the opportunity because i have too much pride and didn't want to be seen walking down twice xD
obviously, retrospectively, it's like...what pride? who needs pride?
(note for next time: stalking is a prideless venture)

inside the state theatre.
so pretty.
very reminiscent of boston opera theatre <3

lol at the people who paid to get these freebies!

my view on the mezzanine level
pretty good

thanks to janice for lending me her super P&S
so i could capture this shaky video:

another reason why paying for the red carpet sucks is because of the super short introductions
seriously, if you want to see celebrities in the flesh hang out outside
inside, they leave after...2 minutes
(but what a glorious 2 minutes it was~)

lol at the old lady reading FAMOUS behind me

i'm not going to review the movie because i'm so biased
and also cos i kept ruminating over the stalking fail and couldn't concentrate on it
:P
it was beautifully shot though.
and the elephant was amazing xD

when i left the theatre around..10pm
the red carport and barricades were already almost all gone~

overall verdict: if given the chance to pay to take the red carpet route, then no.
not worth it.
(unless you're one of those people that are like...OMG I BREATHED THE SAME AIR AS <insert celebrity> IT WAS SO WORTH IT~
which some of the people sitting near me were -.-)

donna.
wow, has it really been half a month since my last proper entry?
things have been quite hectic since uni started up again.
suffering from a bit of inertia getting into phD mode.
been constantly on edge. a horrible horrible feeling.
need to find a way to curb it.

and you know what's worse?
i'm so insignificant relative to the world's problems.
this year's natural disasters have just been insane. one after another.
you would think that they would put life into a bit more perspective.
especially since this year's events have hit a bit closer to home than past years.
i don't even know what i'm supposed to feel.

thankfully, not all things are bad.
i realise small things still bring my joy. like hand-sewing the bow i removed from my coat jacket and making it into a hair accessory.
hopefully, i'll be able to channel my angst into some creativity.
something that's been relatively lacking in my life recently.
i've also been really getting into interior design blogs as of late.
makes me want to renovate my room entirely.

donna.
what a shitty day.

i went to sleep early last night so i would be awake for work
got woken up in the middle of the night
got scarred.
didn't go back to sleep until forever.
went to work.
got told we had to do stocktake for AU and NZ because the numbers were all over the place.
left work.
realised i'd left the lights on my car and the battery was dead.
ended up leaving my car at work.
will fix tomorrow.
got offered a ride by the ever lovely charity to stratty.
trained it to parra.
meebo-ed cherry and val about my misfortunes.
missed my bus while buying food.
got on bus.
got off bus.
realised the stops had changed and the last stop was 15 minutes downhill from my house, inside of 2 minutes uphill (and hence a walk downhill)
realised i left my umbrella on the bus.
pretty umbrella was $25.
then got home to setup my own scanner.
found out that HP no longer updates their drivers for scanning, despite the fact it's a relatively new multifunctional device.

will be awesome tomorrow.

donna.
i feel like i should make a CRAS appointment for myself
too bad they're $75
having a bit of a ~future careers path dilemma

had an org psyc interview at unsw today that went pretty well
interviewer was super nice towards the end (basically, anyone that laughs at one of my lame jokes is super nice in my book)
fingers crossed that his "likely to make an offer/you will be an asset/i just got remarried in lasvegas" comes to fruition
i.e. everyone else that applies for org sucks (aside from jenny and huiyih, they can rock it, lol)

after 3.5 hour interview, met up with jenny and huiyih in lab201
bussed it to coogee and revisited good ol' coogee bite
portions were a bit smaller than i remember
we got the salmon eggs benedict, kenny's benny and scrambled eggs
still pretty good
also got a HAPPY frappe which was just a pineapple, strawberry and mango frappe but the name was cool
hehe

then we went to beach
and jenny and huiyih were super unimpressed with my ~waving
even though the waves were super pretty
those asians -.-

walked around before catching the bus back towards city
we walked a bit around pitt st mall...for no reason apparently since we didn't buy anything
saw some cool random useless things in typo and the store next door though
then supervisor gave me a call and gave me anxiety about phD/possible scholarship
fjdasklfjsal;fas
what to do?

we also had meetfresh again
portions keep getting smaller and smaller but still fresh.
noice.

donna.
cherry has a sister. she is cool. cherry's sister has a husband and he is even cooler. long story short, he's a manager that fires people and rides a scooter/motorbike to work. cool, yes? and look at me already getting off-track! anyway~, i hadn't seen the wange couple since...Chinese new year, which is a complete monstrosity so when the opportunity presented itself for me to go and visit their new house, i couldn't resist (despite the fact i had work the following day).

it was like an extended family reunion <3. i was supposed to pick up twin after work, but he ran late and i ended up picking him up at a miscellaneous station and guesstimating the route to wange's place. we got there a bit after cherry and johnson, but wange weren't home yet so we decided to go to IKEA. took instax photos and bumped into a workmate, who kept accusing me of trying to run away from him but that was so not true! him and his girlfriend are so super cute fdjaklflkas. ANYWAY~

it was so cute seeing wayne being super excited to show off his new house :D. and then lol, i made a sarcastic comment about how neat they were (which they weren't since all their stuff was scattered all over the floor) and cherry thought i was being serious and argued that it was because they don't have that much stuff. lies!

we drove to concord for Japanese food, and basically all died of starvation waiting for it to arrive. had a fun time talking and laughing about...i can't remember. probably about wayne's manager-ness and cherry's work interview and twin being high on life (read: wine). OH! and then i was nice to cherry because she's been stressed lately, and then she kept looking at me suspiciously. then finally, she couldn't take it anymore and asked me what i was doing! i was both offended and lolling internally. that got everyone's attention and then they started asking me if i was terminally ill O_O. then coincidentally my contacts were making my eyes tear, so twin was like ARE YOU CRYING?!?! loooooooooooooooooooool. but seriously, am i that mean to cherry all the time that i can't be nice when everyone else is being mean? T.T

the food took so long that i think we took almost 2 hours to eat, which is ridiculous for japanese food. my tempura bento box was pretty good though. then afterwards we went back to wange's to play saboteur which is the most epic card game ever. SO MANY LOLS. highlights would have to include: donna being evil 80% of the time, wayne thinking he was the only saboteur when donna trying to confuse the good people, donna putting the card sideways about 3 times, cherry's temper tantrum when she threw down the wrong card while talking to her mum,  twin constantly accusing wange of being an evil duo when he's the evil one, johnson being a really confident and good teacher, donna getting one nugget while wayne ha like...18.

got home at midnight. didn't get to sleep until 1am.
but it was so completely worth it.

today, i have just been a complete bundle of nerves.
this is hilarious because this time tomorrow, no matter what, i will be completely chill.

donna.

sidenote: Joyce, you made me use spellcheck now. and also, i don't know if you saw my comment but i actually changed prague to praque.  :P
