the days before HK: Baiyun Mountain (白雲山)

, , No Comments
After Beijing, we landed back in Guangzhou and bussed it back to GuangYuan bus terminal on our own
At the door, someone was coincidentally letting themselves in, so we didn't even need to ring the intercom
We caught the lift up the 6 floors and went to press the bell
WHEN THERE WAS NO ANSWER.
In our noobness, we didn't think to tell them when we'd arrived home and everyone had gone out
We had no keys so mum had to go running off down the streets to look for grandma (porpor)
lol.
Eventually everything worked out...

Now a little bit more detail into the lazy entry i posted in HK...

The next day (19/12/11), we went hiking at Baiyun Mountain (白雲山) with porpor
we caught a multitude of 1RMB buses to go to the bottom of the mountain then cable carred it up to the top
First thing we did of course was to eat tofu flower (豆腐花) which was STILL 5RMB and STILL really good after 4 years. We also ate Baiyun pork knuckle (白雲手) which is very similar to the white vinegar chicken feet we have here (in taste)

After lunch we walked around a bit and took a whole heap of photos
Then we sat down after a little little bit of hiking for dessert - i had ginger milk curd (姜撞奶) and it was really good~ - before taking a people mover back down the hill
me and isaac sat backwards again, and as we were going down, everyone that was hiking kept looking at us...we felt like we had incepted someone's brain and everyone was realising we were a threat...

then at night, we went to this classy (~) restaurant on 五路
and the food there was really awesome and different
there was this really cool dish that was like a reverse spring roll but not really,  so good.
then after dinner, we taxi-ed it over the river and went to take a look at the new Canton Tower
pretty impressive
over the river is so developed now, it's kind of amazing to see

noob of an aunt took this picture of us and the massive christmas tree, i know, what christmas tree?

final stop was Guangzhou East Railway Station where i would be catching the train down to HK in two days
There was a random franchise dessert place underneath
I had pawpaw coconut milk with hasma (木瓜雪蛤). IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WANT IT RIGHT NOW.
